How to Choose Lip Gloss Tubes, Applicators and Wipers

A lip gloss tube is selected as a complete assembly: body, cap, stem, applicator and wiper. Start with the product you intend to fill, then shortlist the outer format and review the components together on a sample. This guide helps you organize those decisions before requesting packaging.

1. Define the product before choosing the tube

Write down the formula type, intended application and target fill quantity. If your filling brief uses grams, retain that unit and confirm the corresponding volume with your formula supplier or filling team. A listed capacity in millilitres does not establish the finished product weight.

Also describe the result you want from the applicator: for example, a broad application area or more precise placement. A reference sample or a short description helps us discuss the available component options for your chosen tube.

2. Shortlist the outer format separately from the fill target

Use the lip gloss tube collection to compare reference capacities and assembled dimensions. Similar heights can have different body widths and listed volumes. Check the available space in your carton and the proportions you want customers to hold.

  • PKGLG0002: a 10 ml reference capacity, 93 mm height and 18 mm maximum body diameter.
  • PKGLG0006: a 5 ml reference capacity, 94 mm height and 25.5 mm maximum body diameter.
  • PKGLG0009: a shorter 76 mm format with a 3 ml reference capacity.

These examples are starting points for comparison. Confirm the usable fill with your formula and the selected applicator assembly. For the more general distinction between volume, weight and component materials, see our packaging selection guide.

3. Review the applicator, stem and wiper together

Ask which applicator, stem and wiper combination can be supplied for the shortlisted body. The wiper is the insert at the tube opening; identify it explicitly in the sample request so that everyone reviews the same assembly.

With the selected sample and your formula, record these observations:

  • Withdrawal: how the applicator feels as it passes through the opening.
  • Product on the applicator: whether the amount and distribution suit the application you intend.
  • Application: whether the shape lets you place and spread the product as required.
  • Reinsertion and closure: how the complete assembly closes after use, and whether product collects around the opening during your review.

Describe the result that needs changing and identify the sample version. For example, “sample A carries more product than our reference” is more useful than requesting a different wiper without explaining the intended result. The available adjustment depends on the selected configuration.

4. Keep a short record for each sample

A simple set of notes makes comparison and approval easier. Record the following for each version you evaluate:

  1. Identity: SKU, sample version and the components included.
  2. Filling: formula reference and the actual fill quantity and unit used.
  3. Appearance: color reference, artwork version and the areas approved or requiring changes.
  4. Use: your observations on applicator withdrawal, application and closure.
  5. Decision: what is approved, what needs adjustment and who is reviewing the next version.

Use project-specific compatibility and performance evaluation before approving the final assembly. A catalog photograph or an appearance sample does not establish formula compatibility or completed leakage testing. Our quality-control guide explains the factory's incoming, production and outgoing inspection workflow.

5. Send a focused request

Send the selected SKU or two alternatives, formula type, intended fill, applicator preference, quantity and delivery country. Add any sample observations or reference images you already have. We can then discuss the sample configuration and quotation.

Standard lead times are 7 days for samples and 30 days for mass production; the schedule for your order is confirmed during the project discussion.
